When is Registration Required?

Registration is required if the project includes measures that require Energy Code Compliance (ECC) field verification / diagnostics testing.

If no ECC measures are required (purely prescriptive) , registration is not required.

When ECC measures are included, the CF1R, CF2R, and CF3R must be registered through an approved ECC Provider registry.

Registration is required if the project includes measures that require Energy Code Compliance (ECC) field verification / diagnostic testing.

Some LMCI forms do not require registration.

LMCI forms with specific numbered measures generally do require registration.

Forms ending in “-H” are associated with with field verification / diagnostic testing and require registration.

Prescriptive LMCCs for new construction / additions / alterations and associated prescriptive LMCI forms currently do not have an approved ECC Provider registry (per CEC guidance).

Registration is required in the following cases:

NRCV – required for applicable field verification / diagnostic testing (e.g., building air leakage, IAQ / mechanical ventilation, local mechanical exhaust, certain plumbing / hot-water verification, etc.)

NRCA – required for applicable acceptance testing (e.g., lighting controls, mechanical systems, covered processes, envelope features).

Note: NRCC and NRCI are generally not registered through the ECC Provider. NRCA acceptance testing is handled through an ATTCP (Acceptance Test Technician Certification Provider) program, not the ECC registry.
