How to comply with climate-zone specific windows
The 2022 Energy Code goes into effect January 1, 2023 and has some big changes for commercial fenestration processes. A new mandatory measure for all projects specifies that for the certification of fenestration products and exterior doors other than field-fabricated that the NA6 formula is not allowed to be used for any vertical fenestration projects. It can only be used for skylights less than 200ft2. This essentially means that you can only use NFRC-tested products in all applications.
Another big change for the prescriptive pathway is that window performance is now climate zone specific for fixed windows and curtainwalls or storefronts. To learn more, attend the 2022 Energy Code Preview for Nonresidential Projects on 3/17.
