Reading and Understanding an ACCA Report: Manual S, J and D as required under Title 24 of the California Building, Mechanical, and Energy Code

Description: Title 24 California Energy Code requires that new residential heating and cooling systems be properly selected and sized. The California Green Code and Mechanical Code require that the associated duct system is also sized correctly. Following the ACCA procedure for Manual S, J and D is a common and popular method that project teams use to show compliance with the Code. (This is not a how to course for using ACCA software.)

In this introductory course we will:

  • Review the Code requirements and the goals behind those requirements
  • Clarify the roles and responsibilities of the Energy Consultant, Plans Examiner, HERS rater, and the HVAC Installation Contractor
  • Describe the main sections of an ACCA ‘Report’ including Manuals S, J, D, and other forms you might see
  • Highlight key areas that are necessary for proper documentation and what can be done for best practices

Audience: For Architects, Plans Examiners, and Builders
