Event Description
Here’s an opportunity to visit a green building project in person, to learn more about the process and see the implementation of energy efficiency and building electrification in practice. As we tour an active construction site, the builder will provide first-hand information on implementation, lessons learned and best practices. Builder Mike Horgan of Cairn Collaborative will lead the tour and answer questions.
Learning Objectives
- Learn about installation requirements and options for heat pump mechanical systems
- Discuss heat pump hot water systems and learn the space and location requirements and potential pitfalls to avoid
- Discuss ventilation and indoor air quality and different options appropriate for retrofits versus new construction
- Review wall, floor and roof assemblies for insulation and air sealing best practices as well as consideration for embodied carbon of selected materials.
