Introduction to the Energy Code: ICC Chapter Series

Developed for Central Coast and Ventura Region International Code Council (ICC) Members, this course provides an overview of the California Energy Code, Title 24 Part 6, including the historic context, organization, resources and overall goals for this current code cycle. Serving as a refresher for code officials, building safety, and builders who will be participating in 2022 energy code classes, or as an introduction for those entering the building industry, this course will provide a strong foundation for design, permitting and compliance.

This is the first course in a series of 2022 Energy Code classes developed for the Central Coast and Ventura ICC Chapters.

  • Understand what the Building Energy Efficiency Standards code is and why we have one in California.
  • Learn how the energy code is organized and where to find the information you need.
  • Recognize key energy requirements that can inform building design, plan review and construction decisions.
