SUMMARY:Using Life Cycle Assessment & Embodied Carbon Calculators to Make Design and Product Choices
DESCRIPTION:Register \nThis hands-on training will equip participants with the practical knowledge and skills to leverage Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tools and embodied carbon (EC) calculators in the architectural design and construction process. The course will guide attendees through each phase of a project\, from conceptual design to the as-built stage\, highlighting the application and benefits of different LCA tools like EPIC\, Tally\, and EC3. In response to current market needs\, this training also includes an overview of other popular LCA tools\, their costs and capabilities\, and the situations in which they are most effective. Participants will learn how to utilize these tools to make informed design decisions\, foster constructive conversations within the project team\, and track the project’s embodied carbon footprint. Furthermore\, we will explore strategies for incentivizing low-carbon procurement and identifying opportunities for future improvement. The objective is to empower participants to effectively integrate LCA and EC considerations into their projects\, fostering a more sustainable and carbon-conscious built environment. \nLearning objectives  \n\nLearn how to use EC/LCA tools effectively at each phase of design and construction\nLearn how to communicate across the design and construction team about EC/LCA topics\nUnderstand what decisions at each phase can lead to lower EC footprint\nBe able to track\, look back\, and learn from challenges in addressing EC\n\n1 AIA|LU available for this course

SUMMARY:Home Electrification Workshop with Resilient Central Coast
DESCRIPTION:A recording can be found here. \nToday many homes on the Central Coast use natural gas or propane to power heating at home like space heating\, water heating\, cooking and drying clothes. The great news is it’s now easier than ever to power our homes with clean\, climate safe renewable energy and create a clean energy home. \nJoin 3C-REN in collaboration with Resilient Central Coast for this informative online workshop to learn about the important first steps to creating a clean energy home. Speakers will discuss resources and services available to help residents—from home evaluations and electrical system check-ups to working with contractors and accessing rebates and incentives. \n  \nRegister \n  \nAgenda Outline: \n\n6:30-6:40pm: Introductions & Home Electrification Overview (including the human and environmental health benefits) with Ecology Action\n6:40-7:10: Simplify your transition to a clean energy home through personalized home electrification plans\, consultations and access to a network of trusted contractors. Guest speakers Cooper Marcus from QuitCarbon and Mark Woods from G2e Home Energy Advisors LLC discuss the services they provide to residents and highlight important first steps.\n7:10-7:30: Learn how to stack incentives and rebates from local\, state\, and federal programs to maximize your cost savings—and in some cases\, cover your costs completely! Our guest speaker Lori La Riva from 3C-REN will discuss current incentive programs from 3C-REN\, 3CE\, and TECH\, with information on current IRA tax credits and future rebates.\n7:30-7:45: QA with all presenters
