SUMMARY:How to Market Yourself as a High-Performance Professional
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\n  \n“High-performance” professionals set themselves apart from traditional building professionals by exceeding conventional standards for energy efficiency\, healthy indoor air quality\, resilience\, comfort\, durability\, and cost of maintenance. From renovations of existing buildings to new construction\, high performance professionals play a critical role in creating buildings that meet our climate goals by cutting energy use and emissions and keeping building occupants safe and healthy.   \nProfessionals who are focused on high-performance strategies\, protocols\, products\, and/or systems will gain knowledge and skills to meet the challenge of identifying\, engaging\, and successfully communicating the value of high-performance to customers\, decision makers and influencers in the building industry.   \nBy incorporating targeted marketing\, strategic questioning\, and consultative selling concepts\, this workshop teaches participants how to sell high performance jobs through enhanced marketing programs and sales practices. By learning to understand customer needs\, participants can offer high-performance building solutions through a need-based value proposition.  \n  \nLearning Objectives   \n\nAttendees will be able employ the marketing model STP (Segmentation\, Targeting\, Positioning) to promote of their own high-performance capabilities and offerings in order to identify\, attract\, and qualify potential clients.  \nAttendees will gain expertise in communicating the elements of high-performance design\, construction\, and operation of new buildings\, as well as the renovation/upgrading of existing buildings.   \nAttendees will understand the Customer Decision Making Process and be able to apply that understanding to their marketing/sales messages and materials.     \nAttendees will be able to tailor proposals and presentations so that they align with the situation\, needs\, and priorities of their potential clients. \n\n  \n1.5 AIA LU’s are available for this event \nInstructors: \n\nJay Gentry\, CCT\, Inc.

SUMMARY:Stay Cool This Summer with Higher-Performing Air Conditioning: Local residents share their experiences with heat pumps for space heating and cooling
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\nAttention Central Coast Residents! \n\nAre you one of 50% of Californians who will need to upgrade or replace a natural gas furnace or old air conditioning unit in the near future?\nDo you know the options available\, including high-performing electric heat-pump units?\nAre you interested in hearing from real homeowners about their switch to all-electric heat pump appliances?\n\nHeat pump space conditioning units are ultra-efficient appliances\, widely adopted in Europe and Asia\, that use electricity instead of natural gas to both heat and cool your home. Many homeowners in the U.S. are switching over to heat pumps as they offer safer operations\, superior technology\, and lower electric bills. \nThis 1-hour webinar will provide an overview of all-electric heat pump appliances and stories from real homeowners who have installed heat pumps. You’ll also learn about local incentives that greatly reduce the cost of heat pumps and get connected with contractors to complete your project. \nThe event will address four central questions\, including: \n\nWhat are heat pumps and why should I get one?\nHow much does a heat pump cost?\nHow do I find a heat pump contractor?\nWhat do heat pump owners have to say about their new appliances?\n\nEvent In Partnership With: \n         \nReady to make an upgrade? Learn more and connect with a 3C-REN Single Family Program Contractor HERE. \nWant to try a DIY upgrade? Learn more and check out a 3C-REN toolkit or induction cooktop HERE. \nIf you are interested in learning more about heat pump appliances before the event\, please visit https://www.switchison.org. \n

SUMMARY:The Value of Becoming a Certified Energy Analyst (CEA)
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER\nDescription: With California being at the forefront of energy efficiency and having one of the most stringent building energy codes in the country\, documenting and verifying compliance with these standards has become increasingly more complicated. \n \nSince energy saving goals set by the State largely depend on compliance with the Energy Code (Title 24\, Part 6)\, accurate analysis and documentation is necessary to ensure these goals are achieved. \n \nThe new construction market in California predominantly utilizes the performance approach for analyzing and documenting compliance\, which requires a special set of skills to accurately model projects using State approved software. \n \nCurrently\, there are no requirements for individuals to obtain special training\, or to be certified to prepare compliance documentation.   \n \nJoin us as we explore the role and responsibilities of a Title 24\, Part 6 energy consultant\, benefits of becoming a Certified Energy Analyst (CEA) and the steps it takes to become certified. \n \nThis presentation will also focus on the importance of accuracy when it comes to energy modeling and what’s currently being done to increase the value of the CEA Program.   \n \nLearning Objectives:  \n\nUnderstand the role and responsibilities of documenting compliance with California’s Energy Code (Title 24\, Part 6). \nUnderstand the benefits\, pathway and minimum qualifications of becoming a Certified Energy Analyst (CEA). \nUnderstand the importance of accuracy of energy modeling for compliance with the Energy Code. \nUnderstand what’s being done to elevate the role of a CEA similar to that of a HERS rater\, or Acceptance Test Technician. \n\nInstructors: \n\nBrian Selby\, California Association of Building Energy Consultants
