DESCRIPTION:INTEREST FORM​\n\n3C-REN has partnered with CalCERTS\, Inc. to offer HERS (Home Energy Rating System) Rater training for FREE* to qualified candidates across the tri-counties!   \nAs the California Energy Code (Title 24 Part 6) becomes more stringent\, HERS Raters are essential to the construction process as trusted third-party reviewers of the performance of a building’s major energy-using appliances.   \nCandidates will learn to conduct the following tests to verify the performance of various building systems:  \n\nDuct Tests \nBlower Door Tests \nQuality Insulation Installation (QII) \nFan Efficacy/Watt Draw \nRefrigerant Charge Verification \nSolar System Verification \nAnd more! \n\nHERS certification has several tracts depending on the individual’s focus. Pathways include:  \n\nHERS Residential Alterations \nHERS New Construction \nHERS Solar \nHERS II – Whole House Rater + CA RESNET \nHERS Nonresidential  \n\nA high school diploma or GED is recommended for enrolling in this training opportunity. Since living tiny for many years\, Vina has been a passionate advocate for tiny homes as alternative housing solutions. \n  \nChristopher Olvera \nSupervisor\, Outreach and Education Unit\, California Energy Commission\n  \n\n  \nChristopher Olvera is the supervisor of the California Energy Commission’s Outreach and Education Unit which develops tools\, presentations\, and resources to support compliance and enforcement with the Energy Code. Chris has over 18 years of experience working at the Energy Commission. He began work as a student on the Energy Standards Hotline fielding questions about the Energy Code from designers\, builders\, and enforcement agencies statewide. Chris has served in several other positions supporting a variety of programs\, including: the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) program; the Acceptance Test Technician Certification Provider (ATTCP) program; processing low interest Energy Conservation Assistance Act (ECAA) loans; the Bright Schools program; and facilitating upgrades per the Clean Energy Jobs Act (Proposition 39). \n  \nJohn Shipman\nSenior Director\, National Business Education\, Workforce Education & Training\, Franklin Energy Services\n  \n\n  \nJohn oversees outside external education\, training and professional development activities for Franklin Energy Services.
